Popping green bubbles on a fresh welcome screen, and richer Room colors.

New

• The welcome screen has a slowly moving gradient with lime bubbles that float up and pop.

Improved

• Room backgrounds show your Room color more strongly, while keeping timestamps and names easy to read.
• Easier to get around: the tab bar is now Rooms, Friends, +, Discover and Profile, with a label under each icon.
• Activity moved to the top-right of the Lobby, next to News, with the same dot for anything new.
• Invite friends now lives at the top of the Friends tab. Create Rooms with the + in the tab bar.
• Making a Room is simpler: type a name and tap Create Room. Who can join, how long, start time and category sit in one row you can change.
• HANGPOP suggests a category from your Room name, like Family for “Grandma’s 80th”. You can still change it.
• A short line on the New Room screen and the Lobby explains what a Room is.
• The welcome screen is cleaner, with the sample Room bubbles gone so the HANGPOP logo sits higher.
• The animation holds still with Reduce Motion and pauses when you leave the screen.

• The Room color still tints the background, header, pinned pill, send button and typing dots.

• Your messages stay lime no matter the Room color.
• Everyone’s @handle and bubble stripe keep their own colors, and @mentions are lime again in every Room.

• A new + menu in the message bar: Camera, Photos, GIFs, Polls and Voice note in one glass popover.

Improved

• New Room header: floating glass Back and ⋯ buttons, with the Room picture and name in the middle. Tap the name for members and Room info.
• Messages now scroll under a soft fade at the top instead of a solid bar.
• The message bar is now a glass + button and a glass text field, with send and the mic inside the field.
• Pinned messages show as a small glass pill under the header.

Animated Room backgrounds and a new glass Room header.

New

• Animated Room backgrounds in your Room’s color: a soft glow slowly drifts behind the chat.
• A new floating glass header in every Room, with Back, the Room name and a ⋯ button for Room options. Uses Apple’s Liquid Glass on iOS 26.

Improved

• The background stays dim so bubbles and text are easy to read, and it holds still when Reduce Motion is on.
• The animation pauses when you leave the Room or close the app, to save battery.
• The message bar matches the new glass look. With Reduce Transparency on, both use a solid background.

• News: see every update and bug fix in one place. Tap the megaphone in the Lobby, or go to Settings → News.
• A lime dot shows up when there’s a new update you haven’t read yet.

• The “What’s new” sheet and News now share the same notes, so they always match.

Your Room, your color v0.1.2 · Oct 19, 2026

Fixes from your bug reports, a fresh welcome screen and message status.

New

• Message status: your latest message shows Sending, then Sent, then Delivered, then the faces of who’s seen it.
• Seen by faces: see up to 5 profile pictures under your message. Tap them to see everyone’s handle.
• A new drift glow background on the welcome screen.

Improved

• Your Room color now tints the whole Room: your bubbles, the send button, mentions, polls, voice notes and reactions.
• @mentions show up in the Room color. Tap one to open that person’s profile.
• Making someone a mod is easy to find: tap ⋯ next to a member, or tap a name in chat, for Make mod, Kick and View profile.
• The fine print on the welcome screen is easier to read.

Fixed

• The keyboard no longer covers the welcome note, the poll creator or GIF search. Tap Done or tap outside to put it away, and your text stays.
• Friend requests now say “You’re friends now” right after you accept.
• Changing the Room color now changes the whole Room, not just the top bar.

Smoother big Rooms, quick tips and a way to send us feedback.

New

• Quick tips the first time you try long-press, swipe to reply, hold to record and pin. Each one shows once.
• Send feedback from Settings, with an optional screenshot. Only the team sees it.
• Poll results: when a Room ends, each poll posts what got picked most.
• Mentions filter in Activity.
• Hosts can preview their welcome note before saving.

Improved

• Big Rooms with hundreds of messages scroll much smoother, even on older iPhones.
• A tidier long-press menu: reactions on top, then actions, then safety options.
• Voice notes keep playing while you scroll, and the next one plays right after.
• Your Room color shows on typing dots and Lobby cards.
• Better VoiceOver labels, bigger tap targets, larger text support and Reduce Motion.

Fixed

• The Voice notes and GIFs cards were missing from “What’s new”. They show now.

The ROOM Update: Room for more? v0.1.0 · Oct 19, 2026

Our biggest update yet: voice notes, GIFs, polls, mods and much more.

New

• Voice notes: hold to record up to 2 minutes. Slide to cancel, or slide up to go hands-free.
• GIFs: search or browse trending. Your recent GIFs show first.
• Edit a message for 5 minutes after sending. It shows “edited”.
• @mentions: type @ to tag someone. They get a quiet alert in Activity.
• Polls with 2 to 6 options. You can change your vote.
• Pin one message to the top of the Room (hosts and mods).
• Seen by: tap your own message to see who read it. Turn it off in Privacy.
• Room cover photo and 8 Room colors for hosts.
• Welcome note: hosts can greet new members with a short note they see once.
• Screenshot heads-up in private Rooms.
• Leave Room, Delete for everyone (creators only), Kick, and Mods with MOD and HOST tags.

Improved

• Spam protection: if someone sends too fast, we ask them to slow down for a minute.

Fixed

• Messages that are still sending no longer disappear when the chat refreshes.
